My name is Paul. I’m passionate about financial literacy and enjoy helping people achieve their money goals

Money has always represented freedom to me because I know what it’s like to struggle financially. Now I share what I’ve learned on my journey to financial freedom to help others build the same freedom for themselves.

I was born in NYC and spent my teenage years in Africa. My 20s were spent in the Air Force as a Pashto linguist. I deployed to Afghanistan in 2010, where I totally met Robin Williams on a USO tour.

In my 30s I got some more combat experience in the Great Cardboard War working nights as a PT Supe at UPS while going to school during the day. I survived 5 years of that, graduating with a BS in Finance and an MBA, which is kind of like a master’s degree, in the same way that a dentist is a doctor.

I rounded out the rest of my 30s as a financial analyst, then data analyst, then accountant for UPS and one of its cursed subsidiaries, then at age 41 I got hired as Accounting Manager for a fish distribution company called True World Foods, which was my first 6-figure job – ever.

As of 2026, I’m 42, live in Los Angeles and have a wife and 1 year old. My home is a 1 bedroom apartment and my car is a Corolla that’s old enough to vote. Both serve my basic needs for now, so I see no need to upgrade, and you’d have a lot fewer money problems if you had that mentality too.

I’m really good at Excel, and I know how to make ChatGPT write me some killer VBA (computer language).

As for human languages, I am fluent in Spanish, good enough for government work in Pashto, and passable in French. Actively working on my Korean by attending weekly classes at the Korean Cultural Center, and I think I’m getting pretty good. I also possess some knowledge of German, Portuguese, Farsi, and sarcasm.
