Good news everyone /s

Well, good for some of you

Fannie Mae has removed its minimum credit requirement from desktop underwriting of home loans (previously was 620). The last time this happened, it culminated in the Global Financial Crisis of 2008 because people who should never have been given loans took out 5 of them

So, uh… stormy weather ahead, maybe.

But hey, keep saving, have good financial habits and maybe when the economy craters and houses come down to more affordable levels and everyone else that didn’t listen to me and overspent on the lifestyle “they deserved” is suffering, you finally have a chance at getting your first home at a reasonable price

As a reminder, I have always lived below my means – my apartment is currently a 1 bedroom, my car is a reliable Corolla with 18 years and 268k miles. Because of these habits, my net worth is pushing $2 million despite never making 6 figures in my life (except 2020 during COVID but that was due to overtime at the UPS warehouse – 6 days a week 14 hours a day due to you assholes blowing your additional $600 a week of unemployment on Amazon purchases that I had to load into trucks. I did get a concussion and cracked ribs, both of which I was back at work the following day and had to work through, so, you know, good and bad). *makes the 6-7 hand gesture with the upturned palms the kids are so fond of*

Good news though, I’m about to start a new job that will pay me 100k plus bonuses for the first time in my life in a few months at age 41

Live below your means, folks. Life gives you far more options if you do
